So Mi Dar Backed For Oaks
Claudio Monteverdi is a short-price favourite to win the Investec Derby Trial (currently 11-8 with William Hill), but could be challenged by the beautifully bred So Mi Dar (7-2 second-favourite).
The Aidan O’Brien trained market leader, Claudio Monteverdi, was an odds-on winner at Leopardstown last time and is 20-1 to win the Derby.
However, John Gosden trains So Mi Dar, who won her only start at Windsor in October. She is a daughter of Dubawi out of the multiple Group 1 winner Dar Re Mi.
So Mi Dar has been popular in the Investec Oaks market and has shortened with William Hill to 20-1 from 25-1.
“We’ve seen lots of cash for So Mi Dar in the Oaks and she could blow the betting market open if she manages to beat Claudio Monteverdi in the trial,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke.
