Australia: Nicholls Firming for Top Job
Former treasurer Tim Nicholls has firmed to $2.20 to become the leader of the Queensland LNP when the party meets to vote on the top job at 11am.
Current LNP leader Lawrence Springborg is $1.85 while former NRL referee Tim Mander is out to $9 after setting the spill in motion midweek by resigning from the front bench.
“There has been strong support for Tim Nicholls since he confirmed he would be challenging, particularly on Friday morning,” a William Hill spokesperson said.
“Nicholls is $2.50 into $2.20 with his camp reportedly confident they have enough support.
“Betting suggests we are looking down the barrel of a leadership change.”
The leadership ballot takes place at 11am today.
