Royal Ascot Commercial Sponsors

On the 19th November, 1965, the first commercial sponsorship at Ascot, the Kirk & Kirk Handicap Chase, was won by Rupunini (trained by A. Thomas and ridden by Bobby Beasley).

And to mark the occasion, William Hill have priced up the odds for when Royal Ascot will have a commercially sponsored race. While there would be strong competition to sponsor a race at the Royal meeting, William Hill think it may be some time before that happens, making it just 1/9 there is no commercially sponsored race before 2020.

“Royal Ascot broke with tradition this year by having a commercial partner and with racing an increasingly global business, we think it is only a matter of time before there is a Royal Ascot race with a business sponsor,” said William Hill spokesman Jon Ivan-Duke. “If there was an opportunity to sponsor a race at the biggest Flat meeting of the year, we’d be interested.”

Will There Be A Commercially Sponsored Race At Royal Ascot Before 2020?:
